Transforming Awareness into Action
Sustainable Skopje was founded by Annie Duan, an American exchange student in North Macedonia through the YES Abroad program. During her time in Skopje, Annie experienced the city's environmental challenges firsthand. She noticed that although people cared deeply about the environment, there were few accessible, youth-friendly resources that clearly explained what was happening locally or how to effectively respond. Sustainable Skopje was created to bridge that gap by transforming simple awareness into understanding, and understanding into action.
What We Stand For

Local Focus
We prioritize issues directly affecting Skopje and North Macedonia, providing relevant context and solutions.
